The Algal Evolutionary Ecology (AlgEE) Lab arrived at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science Eastern Shore Laboratory in Wachapreague, VA in January 2024 after spending 7.5 years in the Department of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
We investigate questions at the convergence of genetics and ecology, all routed in the natural history of the systems in which we work. While most of our work takes us along the coast to study macroalgae (or seaweeds), we also investigate algae in snow, ice, and streams.
We also participate in the Ecological Monitoring Program at the VIMS ESL, both for macroalgae but also for all the organisms that inhabit the coastal bays of the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
If you are interested in joining our group, please reach out at [email protected] and send your CV and why you are interested in joining our research group.
